Skin disease is a common problem in dogs, and the condition of the skin will often tell you a great deal.

If your dog begins to scratch all the time, or licks, paws, bites the skin, and rubs up against things to relieve discomfort, then you are faced with an “itchy skin disorder” and should try to find the cause. There is another group of skin disorders that have to do with appearance of the skin coat. These diseases do not cause as much discomfort, at least not at first.

exceed state and federal standards.
